The Crocetta Pass

The Crocetta Pass (698 metres above sea level) is located along the official route of the Via Francigena, not far from the village of Arzengio. This small pass is situated at a natural crossroads where several connecting paths converge between the Valdantena valley, the River Magra valley floor, the Prati di Logarghena, a Natural park located in the municipality of Filattiera, and the Valley of Caprio.

For many centuries, this place has been a point of passage and rest for travellers, farmers, shepherds, pilgrims, and wayfarers.

Along the steep cobbled path that connects Arzengio to the Crocetta Pass, there are fourteen stages of the Via Crucis, which lead the faithful to the small church, built in 1841, renovated in 1957, and recently restored. The church is a site of devotion for the local communities, especially during the feast of the Blessed Virgin Assumed into Heaven.
