Palazzo Cortesini
Palazzo Cortesini has a small but harmonious faà§ade and is one of the Pontremoli residences renovated during the first half of the 18th century.
The reception hall is a real masterpiece by Antonio Contestabili who frescoed the walls and the great vault. Suggestive and particularly refined are the quadrature, painted architectures that generate three-dimensional spaces; twisted columns embellished with flowers punctuate the walls and two painted frames frame two extraordinary landscapes with ruins and figures. In photographs from the 1930s, the hall still appears furnished with low sofas against the walls, which testify to its original use as a ballroom.
The alcove of the main floor apartment is decorated by Contestabili himself who paints the headboard on the wall, embellishing it with floral compositions and with the intertwined monogram of the Virgin; the two side doors which give access to the boudoir are also particular.
