Palazzo Ricci-Armani

Result of the unification of several medieval “tower houses”, the seventeenth-eighteenth-century building has a quadrangular plan, a central courtyard and overlooks the river. In 1664, on the back of the house, the two large loggias on the Magra were built. The elegant facade, in the wake of the building renovation taking place in that period, was transformed in 1781 as it appears today, restored. Inside, halls, sitting rooms, frescoed sitting rooms, rooms and alcoves showing perspective decorations, in stucco, in “quadrature” according to the pictorial style in vogue at the time: among the painters who worked there, we should especially remember the Contestabili for bucolic scenes, seascapes and landscapes.
