Vetrina della Citta – Undergrounds and gardens of Pontremoli
The Showcase of the City of Pontremoli is an important initiative aimed at enhancing the historic medieval village of Lunigiana.
Located in the medieval basements of the Town Hall, with gardens along the Magra River, it constitutes a large exhibition space enriched by a multimedia setup that explores the history and traditions of Pontremoli, focusing on its artistic, archaeological, and architectural landmarks, such as bridges, stele statues, and churches. From an introduction to the town’s historical art to the Pontremolese Baroque, a unique artistic movement that developed in Pontremoli throughout the 18th century. Temporary art exhibitions are regularly held here, and, through multimedia videos, visitors are offered insights into the town’s most characteristic traditions and events: from the January Bonfire Challenge, to the “TourDay” gastronomic tour in May, culminating with the prestigious Bancarella Prize in July.
The Showcase is the perfect first stop for visitors to begin discovering the history and traditions of Pontremoli and to explore the urban development and historical peculiarities of the town through an engaging multimedia experience.
